WILD NOTHING THE WORLD IS A HUNGRY PLACE

Wild Nothing is Jack Tatum's name for his synth-washed indie pop. Previously characterised by the lof-fi shoe-gaze production, Wild Nothing's new EP Laughing Gas is an expansion into something a little more polished and a lot more 80's sounding. Album closer 'The World Is a Hungry Place' uses bold New Order style 80's drum sounds, expansive saxophones and floaty synth pads. The repeated guitar line is jangly and drenched in wide delay. Chorus line "the world is a hungry place" is layered in a plethora of harmony, and sung with a theatrical passion, only adding to the grandiose theme of this tune. -Ellie Rose-Davies
